In those sports (basketball, swimming, gymnastics), the athletes wear jackets until they are ready to get on the court, board, etc. They also frequently wear sweat pants as well so you would not see the actual competitive clothing on the manager/coach.

Definitely would want to see swimming and gymnastics coaches in team uniform.
