Why does she care about his CLOSET?

Either want the room clean or the closet clean, can’t have both

She is a PhD Mom, right there.

It was at this moment Miles realised his dreams of a career in professional poker were dashed.

Miles is a terrible liar, so it looks like a career in running for office is out of the question.

I wish you’d make up your mind, mom. Which do you want? Do you want my room to look fine? Or do you want me to clean out my closet?

My mom made us stick out our tongues, if it was purple we were lying. One of her best friends “Aunt Ann” lived in the neighborhood so we were always playing with our “cousins”. Aunt Ann coincidentally knew the same purple tongue trick and when she used it on cousin Mark one day, it was proof positive to us that purple tongues were a real thing!

FYI, Don’t bother looking in the mirror at your tongue – the color change is something only moms can see!

Miles, if you’re telling the truth, why would matter if your eyes crossed?

We told #3 son that when he lied, his ears turned red. When he would lie, he’d cover his ears, until his older brothers told him.

That quirk in a kid is God’s gift for a parent. But she shouldn’t have told him.

Of course I’m lying. I ALWAYS lie! Even right now.

Reminds me of the parent who told their kid that whenever she lied, a red dot would appear on her forehead. She always knew when the kid was lying because she’d go and cover her forehead with her hand.
