The projected total cost of the 2022 election (Congressional Races) is $8,893,504,236.
The total cost of the 2020 election (Congressional and Presidential Races) was $14,403966,687.
Imagine what could be accomplished with these funds for the country, earth, and public good instead of billions wasted on commercials, lawn signs, and other campaign foolishness.
I would like to see free advertising on TV, radio, all media for anyone who can get enough signatures to qualify as a candidate. The content would be controlled by the candidate’s committee, and no other organization would be allowed media time to comment. Established news outlets would have to allow equal time to all candidates, narrowing it down after the primaries to those who had gotten a large enough percentage of the vote to have a real chance, and any comments they make concerning the elections would have to be preapproved for lack of bias by all candidates before they could be aired. Then we could actually choose the candidate we agreed with, without media spin.
Ah Arkansas. High teen pregnancy rate and low percentage of degrees after HS. Median income of all of about $46,500. Pretty darned close to the top rankings in the USA for diabetes and respiratory diseases and heart disease. Top 5 in homicide rates. #11 in receiving federal spending. In the bottom 10 for state education. The not so great state of Arkansas
