Felt like a big shot in grade school when I got my first one (no safety hole in the caps then) Still use BIC pens. Blue. Every day. Modified a cap for use on the fifth string of a banjo.

I used to use the Bic finepoint pens.. hard to find. I worked in a blood bank, and one nurse who took my pen after signing for picking up some blood found out how protective I was of my pens. When I couldn’t find my one pen that I had that day, figured she must’ve taken it. Made the trek to ICU to retrieve it, and got an earful from her about “What does it matter???” Hey, when you search high and low to buy a pen that you really like, you don’t just hand them out willy nilly to anyone who takes it. Plenty of pens in the ICU and hospital at large, but ew… cheap medium points! :D

In the late 50s and early 60s in Toronto, only fountain pens were allowed. Bad enough for right handers, brutal for us lefties. The side of my palm was blue for about three years.
