It’s going to kill fan loyalty in the long run. My Division I alma mater is a minor league training ground for the NBA. In part it is also a stopover for a 2 or 3 who are bench sitters and leave for other schools where they can get playing time.
For several years now I have looked at the roster for the upcoming season and ask re about 80% of the squad, “who the h e l l are these guys”. Then I have to spend time matching names to faces, numbers and hairstyles.

It’s not as if there are any rules.
You cannot violate something that doesn’t exist.
