Writing from Eastern Union County, New Jersey. last week, Christmas Eve temperature was 7 Farenheight, today 2AM New Year’s Eve, 47.

In one week in Cincinnati Ohio, temperature went from low of -6 F to 63 F high. Both very unusal….But not unheard of.

Is the Sun causing global warming?

No. The Sun can influence Earth’s climate, but it isn’t responsible for the warming trend we’ve seen over recent decades. The Sun is a giver of life; it helps keep the planet warm enough for us to survive.

We know subtle changes in Earth’s orbit around the Sun are responsible for the comings and goings of the ice ages.

But the warming we’ve seen in recent decades is too rapid to be linked to changes in Earth’s orbit and too large to be caused by solar activity.

One of the “smoking guns” that tells us the Sun is not causing global warming comes from looking at the amount of solar energy that hits the top of the atmosphere.

Since 1978, scientists have been tracking this using sensors on satellites, which tell us that there has been no upward trend in the amount of solar energy reaching our planet.

A second smoking gun is that if the Sun were responsible for global warming, we would expect to see warming throughout all layers of the atmosphere, from the surface to the upper atmosphere (stratosphere).

But what we actually see is warming at the surface and cooling in the stratosphere.

This is consistent with the warming being caused by a buildup of heat-trapping gases near Earth’s surface, and not by the Sun getting “hotter.”

Here in Halifax, Nova Scotia we set a record today. Longest we’ve ever gone without any snow in a season. Haven’t had so much as a dusting. The temperature today and tomorrow is supposed to be 50, and the long range (two week) forecast has no snow or freezing temperatures right up to the 13th.

I’ll take it…

East of the Rockies, you might get your wish, Winslow. I figured with an average Winter in the 60’s, San Antonio winters would just go away with global warming. I didn’t consider what would happen as the polar vortex breaks down. Average don’t help when the grid’s broken and a mild cold snap by blue state standards kills hundreds. We dodged a bullet so far this year.

Such a short term memory loss.

Cold in NE Pennsylvania but little snow. No complaints about that. And it’s supposed to get to 60 later this week.

Fraudulent Democrats seem to neglect their Climate Change hoax when it’s suddenly nice, warm and sunny outside during Winter seasons. Instead they’ll only cry about their Climate Change hoax when it’s nice, warm and sunny during Summer seasons.
