Ooh, so this is the first time that Chuck, who is carrying a torch for the Little Red Haired Girl, gets to make out with the Little Red Haired Girl, but I had previously thought that Peppermint Patty was NOT the Little Red Haired Girl!
This is another look into Patty’s fascinating character. She might be a tomboy, but she’s actually a pretty sensitive little girl. She hasn’t had the benefit of learning how to handle her feminine emotions from her mother. Schultz did a great job building Patty.
I’ve always loved the adaptation of this part of the story arc in the“Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown” movie, when Charlie Brown and Peppermint Patty sat together at the French school.

Um, of course the hips are touching. You’re literally in the same seat! Gosh, I’m surprised Peppermint Patty gets Ds instead of Fs.

Well, there you go, Patty, joined at the hip. You can’t get much better teamwork than that.
