This is why being “polite” rather than saying a direct no never works with boys you’re not interested in. I realize it was a particularly awkward situation here to say a direct “no” to but Gunther never could pick up on subtle messages.

You don’t have to give a reason (especially a fake reason). “No, thank you.” is a direct response to a direct question.

I never understood why Luann was so mean to Gunther, poor guy! Happy they are great friends when they get older! :D
