I know what that is like. I once spend a “catless” month on a job in an industrial part of Texas. My catsitter insisted on bringing her dog; consequently, she never actually saw my cats.
Fortunately, they sent me a message “Godfather-style”. She reported finding a half-eaten gopher in the living room. That meant that Kirby was OK, because he was the hunter. It also meant Johnny Depp was OK because Kirby never ate his kill but Johnny Depp was always glad to oblige.

We may have called him great, but I doubt his cat feels that way.

his groom did not know how to put the bridle on, the reins go to the bit, not the headstall.
