This really reminded me of Calvin’s dad. They’re sooo different! Lio, don’t be sad. You’re lucky your dad’s like that. Look at how Calvin’s dad reacts: http://i39.tinypic.com/2zdup38.jpg
Good one, Baneberry. Funny how Lio winds up disappointed and altho Calvin looks a little disappointed too, his dad couldn’t destroy his ‘imaginary’ world like Lio’s did. Calvin just retreats into it from monstrous reality.
My impression is that Lio knows he is ‘different’. However, he doesn’t seem to be bothered that he isn’t like everyone else. And if you remember you childhood, almost all children find it difficult when they don’t fit in.
I like to think that his father’s unconditional love and support have given Lio the confidence to be different which is a wonderful testament to the father. This is especially true since he appears to be a single dad. I can’t even think of another positive single dad role model in pop culture can you?>
I am forever scaring my wife when I enter a room. Her hearing is a bit compromised and she never knows I am there until I say something, which causes her to jump. I have to make sure she’s hot holding a coffee cup at the time.
Awww! My son has that kind of imagination also. My husband complains when my boy and I play around like that saying that he thought h only had one child.

Absolutely, him is the better and positive Dad of the media culture.

“positive” insofar that he handles with a certain resigned equanimity his professional and romantic shortcomings while Danae subjects him to more… manipulation… than Calvin or Liô have their respective fathers?
M.T. dedicated “Happiness is..” to Mom and Dad, so I’m thinking no on the single parent question.
and yeah, second panel looks great and creates a sense of timing that would be wanting in 4 panels.
If we have learned nothing else in this age of Vampire Passion, we have learned this - vampires need love too. Good night Lio, leave your fangs on the dresser.

Dad’s too used to you, Lio. It’ll take a lot more than that to scare him.

My thought, exactly, Margueritem. Dad’s way too used to it!

Lio, you have a terrific dad – be thankful.

There’s no way I could try that with my dad besides I’m much to mature now to pull off chidish pranks.

does lio have a mom?
VancouverRaven over 15 years ago
There is nothing so frustrating as a proud father’s love.
Ninmas: Not that we’ve seen. Some of us are still hoping he hooks up with Heart’s Mom. If nothing else, Lio and Dean should get along famously.

Unconditional love for a father (or mother) is the only that a child needs for being happy.
Is sad think that adult thinking like adult… a better world can be a world with adult thinking like kids.
Thanks to Mark Tatulli for this extraordinary strip comic.
In the last panel there are a smile in the Lios face? ;)

Under the circumstances, Lio would scare his father far more by dressing up in a Buster Brown costume and licking a huge lollipop.
