Oh yes.

Considering the number of ads in the print edition…..

We haven’t taken the local paper in years because of the political slant of the owner/publisher. The articles are poorly written, incomplete and generally biased. I simply want the facts presented without agenda and a decently written article. It is simply impossible for me to find that in a newspaper or online news sources.

Print media is a dying breed!

A newspaper man once told me that the job of a newspaper in not to bring you the news but to sell the advertising.

I miss being able to afford a newspaper. There’s something about having an actual sheet of newsprint in your hand that the computer just can’t duplicate. I also have a Kobo reader with 100+ books on it waiting to be read, but I still reach for real books.

50 cents? The SF Chronicle daily is now $3.00. When I was a kid I delivered a month’s papers for $2.00. Papers sold for a nickle during the week and a quarter on weekends.

“papers are obligated to me and not the advertisers”? The advertisers support the papers too, same as online news. I subscribe to two papers because they each give me reduced rates.

One of the reasons ‘Print’ is in trouble is relying on advertising for income for so many years instead of having readers pay reasonable amounts for good information.

Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?

This is what mothers would tell their daughters to influence them to keep their virginity until marriage. At least that’s the stereotype – I don’t know how true it actually is/was…

But you can use an ad blocker on the computer, you can’t on a newspaper.

95% of the ads are for hearing aids, dental implants, knee replacement, cataract/prostate surgery. Paper is not making any money off of $.50.

I have 6 different news sites bookmarked, I use them as alternate comic sites, and a couple for the sports news.

Why buy the milk when you can get the cow for free…

So, there are no ads in printed newspapers now? “News” to me! (as it would be to our local rag.)
