I was a teaching assistant for the University of california. They gave me an extra pay check once. They asked for it back, and I was okay with that, but they wanted to charge me interest as well. I said âI didnât sign any promissory note.â And I never heard back from them.

This is known as âclawbackâ, which works only if they can afford better lawyers (so, often).
