It actually works pretty much the other way around. More sex education, fewer surprises.
The kids will eventually figure it out on their own.

50 years later we’ve seen the results
My sixth grade science class in 1964 had a simplistic syllabus taught by a teacher who was the product of parochial schools and a Catholic teacher’s college. She was more embarrassed than her students were.
Unfortunately, modern sex education doesn’t result in kids.
