I always had to stand in a line at the unemployment office with those with crying babies waiting for my check while turning the form listing all the places that I applied at.

When you are Mr. Andrew Capp, you take a complement whenever and wherever you can get one.

Remind them, Andy. If it wasn’t for people like you, they wouldn’t have jobs.

When work comes calling, Andy has just left the house.

Andy must really like pineapple if he’s been going there for decades to get it. The Count is cool with that.

Funny, but hardly believable. In England, I don’t think you get the dole for very long. Certainly not decades.

As far as Andy is concerned, that is a compliment.

Give him your cushy job there at the Job Center. That’s right: you aren’t willing to work a labor job either!

He strives to be the BEST! – the best drunk, the best fighter, the best unemployed, the best inmate, and the best floater in the creek!

In Andy’s unemployment world it is a compliment!

I learned a new word today, feckless. And I know someone it applies to.

So, people in UK, can you provide some “splain”? Does Capp actually get money every week? How does that work?

I do believe he’d make a good bartender,but then the bar would run out of drinks!!!

Give him some credit he, at least, showed up on time for his appointment. :)

He could take over Wally’s job.

Uh, quit giving him money. That is what our leaders don’t understand. YOu want someone to work, quit giving handouts, make them get a job. Jobs are out there, all over the place. Shops begging people to work.

It’s all a matter of perspective!

To Andy it is.

He has really really thick thick skin. He could apply for a position (not JOB) at the local brewery as a quality control ‘beer taster’. Then he would have money and be able to shout Chalky a pint. Just maybe.

I used to have an Andy Capp Sunday comic taped above my dart board but it disappeared. 30 or so years ago, Andy and Flo were at the pub. Apparently, the pub was otherwise empty so Andy wanted Flo to take him on at darts. It kind of reminded me of me and my wife. Does anyone know where I can find that in the archives?

He’s just waiting for the right one to come along.
