Andy should be a political negotiator – imagine how much less wars we could have had

Not funny; pathetic. Andy might pawn many things, but his army jacket?

He should have at least negotiated up to the price of a pint.

That might get him – what, one pint? Maybe?

£2 ?? That wont even cover the price of a pint!

An hour’s parking in the electronic-metered zone costs more than that!

Looks like Andy ran out of people to mooch off of for beer money.

Andy is smart. He’s starts out high, then uses his negotiating skills to come down to a more reasonable figure.

Let’s ignore that it takes him about a nanosecond to go from position one to position two.

Well, the Luck o’ the Irish sure didn’t carry over into today! Just shortly after noon time, we were hit with a 6.8 earthquake that left 14 people dead (so far), many of those in Oro Province where I live.

The earthquake struck near the southern town of Baláo which is about 50 miles south of Guayaquil and about 60 miles northeast of where I live in Machala. Machala was hit with a massive shockwave that collapsed at least one home killing 4 people and destroying the tourist center on the pier in Puerto Bolívar. Power was out for about 8 hours.

Fortunately, the Casa de Linguist suffered relatively little damage – a couple of broken knick-knacks, the glass smashed on the new kitchen clock that was knocked off the wall, and, of course, my 51" SmartTV that I’d just gotten back after 5 months with the repair technician!

Blessedly, aside from terrifying the bejeebers out of my First Maite, no injuries and no structural damage. Stuff can always be replaced – Life can’t be!
