My cat just had dental surgery this past Tuesday. Poor guy spent 48 straight hours wide awake. Must have been the effects of the drugs they gave him. Thankfully he’s back to his normal routine.
Our old cats seem to sleep around the clock, but when I get up in the middle of the night (I’m old, too), there they are, wandering around in the dark, little furry zombies.
Most cats sleep 16 hours a day. When I first retired Colette tried to hang around awake with me all day, which she would do on weekends. After a month, she gave it up and now takes the early afternoon off for a long siesta.

She must have her nights and days mixed up. I wonder what cats do in Alaska when there’s 24 hours of day/night during certain seasons? :)
