For those who don’t remember, in the 1970’s left wing (or left leaning, I wasn’t there) students joined, protests with fundamental (or radical if you prefer) Muslims to bring down the monarchy in Iran. The students wanted to end hereditary monarchy and have some form of democratic government. They didn’t understand that they were in the minority and that Iran wasn’t ready for democracy anyway. The big question today is; Is The United States of America ready for democracy (or a republic if you preferer)?
