A Spoonerism of “Wrecking Women and Chasing Cars” would be “Checking Women and Racing Cars”. Which would be the typical male so it wouldn’t be funny.

I read: “I spend my life wrecking cars and chasing them.” Then, I thought of the tow truck drivers who go out their way to drum up business. I was thinking, OK, this is some jerk in a bar . . . reread the strip because the joke did not make sense, and: d’oh!
