That last slam and the absence of Petey in the last panel may indicate a breaking point in Daddy not previously experienced in the past by kids and Mom.

The worst days seem to drag on. You have to stay late at work or have to stay up late to solve issues.

A traffic ticket on the way home is the end of a horrible, wasted day.

This one just makes my heart hurt. Poor Dad, he looks so beaten down and defeated. I felt like that before I resigned from my last job.

Had to work late, sounds like engine trouble, wanted a nice hot dinner, wanted some peace and quiet. Such little wants.

A simple hug would have helped, Alice.

Last panel. I could just see Beni and Dill doing good cop, bad cop. :)

Yup. And now he is the butt of all jokes in tv and movies today.Down with fathers – make them look stupid! Families don’t need them!

All the kids are all wrong today, but especially Alice, who is singularly insensitive and self-centered! Only Petey even begins to feel empathy for Dad, who has clearly had a very, very depressing day already and needs no harassment by selfish Alice….
