MAYBE a sweater on a small, short coated dog who is sensitive to the cold. Some of the costumes I’ve seen…nope. And costumes on cats? You would have to tranquilize my two fur children before you could stuff them into a costume!
I feel for Zippy. If you must dress your pet, it should be functional, not a costume. I never dressed my cats. Okay, when I was little, we put makeup on our tomcat, which he tolerated quite politely. At least it was the nontoxic play makeup made for kids, and that wouldn’t hurt him, or even stay on for long. I think he liked the attention. The feel of the brushes must have been nice.

I pity little dogs in costumes.

Poor Zippy! Pippi needs to give that pup some assertiveness training.

I’m not sure about dressing animals for your personal amusement.
