    Love it. The youngsters had no clue as to what a fuddy-duddy was. It means an old-fashioned person who has old-fashioned ideals.The words is an old buddy-duddy as well – it was first used in 1889 when a Texas minister objected to being repeatedly called an old fuddy-duddy -

    The irony is that this particular strip is around 22 years old. Each generation creates its own slang so that the older generation can be made to look obsolete. What do you young whipper-snappers call old fogeys now?

    I actually use “fuddy-duddy”. It’s a very good word(s). And if it confuses the kids, so much the better! (Anyone under 50 is a “kid” in MY book).
