Is it cheating to not use bait or hooks?

That’s the ticket!

Unlike doggie me is use me bear hands to gets fish.

One way to enjoy the great outdoors ;-)

I used to have a good sinker on the end of the line to make the bobber do a little bobbing. That way I could lean against a tree with a fishing pole in my fist and not be (immediately) recognized as a lazy loafer. Also, didn’t need to kill worms or clean fish.

one day years ago my buddy, his wife and i were sitting fishing on the Ormond Beach pier…after sitting there for an hour or so, one of the other fishermen close to us asked ‘what you guys using for bait? you haven’t even had a nibble’ i looked up and said ‘bait? we don’t even have hooks on the line’

“A bad day fishing is better than the best day at work,” – unless you are a fisherman by trade…

I always hope I catch a fish big enough to take home for dinner.

Fishing, like golf, is a great pretext for over imbibing but has the advantage of requiring no actual physical activity.

I’ve done this. I bought a fishing license anyway, just in case something ran into my hook and died without a fight.
