To me, it seems like a mutual dump. Other than the coffee invitation (which was very polite considering how she was treated), Cathy sure blew them off as well… the “I’m busy for the next few weeks, but it was great, really!” is classic! Morning Susan nope, it’s actually partly sunny and cool. Sleeping in is a rare treat. I ride my bike, with LMB in my backpack, into town and back to do errands, and then go swimming for a while. Morning lightenup LOVED your reaction to the brownies yesterday :-D Serenasakitty always plenty to go around. You know puppy dog eyes make me weak. Billy does ‘em better than even LMB and he’d make you cry.

Hi Mom! Mom! check yesterday’s comments. Billy posted a recipe from the friends he’s staying with until I come home.

How were they being selfish? Cathy was the one who invited them out, completely forgetting that couples prefer to socialize with other couples precisely to avoid the kind of awkward fiasco that happened here. It was selfish of Cathy to expect them to cater to her singleness.

Could be considered a happy ending: it’s over and it won’t happen again! Cathy knows that Charlene and hubby will talk about her all the way home. But she can raid the fridge and feel better, even after dining out. Have a great weekend, Cathy fans!

Last evening I was in a threesome – okay, it wasn’t quite the same arrangement! But my Mum’s birthday was on Thursday and my wedding anniversary on the Friday, so we (Mum, OH and Me) had a nice chatty evening all together, drinking a little wine, having some creamy cake . . .

Maybe the age thing does help. But three isn’t always a crowd, not if you actually get on together anyway.

In Cathy’s case, of course, she is only a character in a comic strip. So things have to get out of control and go way over the top. If they didn’t, it would be neither funny nor annoying – and who’d want to read that?

And if we didn’t read it, we wouldn’t comment . . . and we’d all be “home alone” then.

Looks more like a MUTUAL dumping to me (although Cathy’s “Whew!” in the last panel makes it look as though she’s more relieved than Simon and Charlene are that the whole thing is officially and finally over with)!!! Now they’ll ALL know to never do a “date” like this ever again . . . unless, of course, they’re real masochists and want another repeat performance of tonight’s really awkward situation again at some point in the future. And with this group of whack-a-doos, that’s entirely possible!!!!!
