Looks like the bookstore illustrated here has something for everyone. As it should be.
I don’t go to Barnes & Noble much; new books can be so expensive. But on a couple of special occasions, I’ve had gift cards to that chain. Then I make my book-buying dollars go as far as they can by googling for a store in my area that’s planning to close. Lots of great bargains to be had, and I’ve acquired books I couldn’t otherwise afford.
Other options in my area are a chain called Used Book Superstore, and a thrift chain called Savers. I’ve found some amazing books in both place. Antique stores are good too. Treasure hunting can be fun!
As for the library, mostly I go about once a month, for the book group my wife and I belong to — although I sometimes bow out if I’m not that interested in that month’s book.
