In our case, it enriches the defense industry and patriotic multinational corporations, especially oil companies.

Because people want money, power, and territory. And they aren’t the ones dying. And sometimes (not always) it only takes one of the sides to start the war.

“WAR is a racket. It always has been.

“It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.

“A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small ‘inside’ group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.”

    - Major General Smedley Butler

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

We worried so much about going up in a nuclear flash back in the day. Now, however, looks like we’ve chosen climate change to slowly and painfully destroy ourselves.

War is dumb, except for the alternatives like Nazi Germany and Soviet and Red Chinese slave labor camps.
