There is no real training needed or required for an emotional support dog. The designation is really to keep landlords from refusing people to rent from them if they have an emotional support dog. It doesn’t provide them with any ability legally to take their dogs in public to restaurants, stores, or air planes. Even on a train, an ESD is required to be in a crate for the ride, unlike a therapy or service dog, who must have training and certification.
