    It’s called childhood amnesia and everyone has it. Studies have show that children as young as 8 can’t remember significant events that happened just a few years earlier. Completely forgetting a family vacation is a classic example. We don’t lose all our early childhood memories, but most of them slip away.

    I always enjoy the rare moments of reflection in Alice. So quiet and solemn; you can almost hear the gears whirring. And then suddenly, in panel four, she snaps back to the Alice we all, uh, love.

    Alice, don’t forget your shovel so you can bury Petey in the sand (to protect him from the sun, of course.)
