In some fonts it can be seen (in others, not so much) that “&” consists of the combined letters “et”, the Latin for “and”. For one example, look up Trebuchet MS in Windows Character Map.
Now explain how Greeks had one letter, φ we call it phi, that sounds like f & Romans had an f, but in translation it ended up ph? Sh became s when it came through Greek because they didn’t have sh. Who did Greek go through on it’s way to Roman, who didn’t have an f? I’ll bet 60/40 Etruscans vs Macedon.
