That last panel reminds me of The Ren and Stimpy Show. On occasion Ren or Stimpy, and sometimes Ren and Stimpy, would do something SO embarrassing that no one should bear witness to it. Then, the music would play, DA DA DAHH! And virtually every single character to ever appear on the show, are staring through the window at them in the midst of their transgression.
The second in a five-part series on past OJ Labor Day Nancy strips.
September 2, 2019: As Labor Day approached, I suppose most regular readers were wondering the same as me – Would there be a sequel to “Sluggo is Lit”? Well, the answer was no. Each year to date has been a stand-alone. However, we still got a treat in OJ’s parody of “Prince Valiant” in the classic style of Hal Foster. The transition is not at all forced as many parodys can tend to be.
We now knew that each year would bring us a new treat from OJ on the first Monday in September!

One might even go as far as banal.

Actually I don’t think today’s joke is preposterous, egregious or atrocious. I think it is rather hilarious, gregarious and sumptuous.
