It hardly matters. The puzzle is essentially won. If you had the missing piece there’s only one place for it to go. And, the full picture is on the box.
Okay, maybe the frustration of not being able to complete the puzzle would cause some people to pay up (I’m certainly not one of them). But if the puzzle was new when I bought it, then clearly the kidnapping of the piece is an inside job. So I’d want to know what’s going on at the puzzle factory.

I do jigsaws and I have two missing a piece. I just shrug and go on to the next one.
