The 2 state solution was on life support from its implementation in 1948.

The Muslims never accepted the right for Israel to exist. And every war they started results in Israel winning. So don’t put the blame on Israel for the failure of a two state solution.

Sure Palestinians want their land back from thousands of years ago. But just like Mexico, they lost the land in a war and they have to live with that.

Why must there be two countries? It took a while, but even Ireland managed to live in peace.

Nancy Pelosi said: “Hamas is a humanitarian organization”. Tell that to the innocents it has killed.

How many times since 1948 have the Palestinians and their allies lost? Put aside war and join in a one state solution in peace.

I’ve never had much faith in the Two State Solution. And with an East Palestine and West Palestine they are even less likely to be successful. Plus, Gaza depends on Israel for power, water and gas. It was too bad we in the US didn’t do more to support the Palestinians in getting power from solar, water from the Med, and delivering gas. But, Israel still controls the whole of the area. They even fired on one of our naval vessels coming to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza. Israel only provided lip service to the US in its agreement concerning the Two State Solution. They actually never participated in it. And Israel continued to confiscate Palestinian property by hook and crook in their Zionist attempt to build a totally Jewish state.

    From (emphasis added) www(dot)timesofisrael(dot)com/for-years-netanyahu-propped-up-hamas-now-its-blown-up-in-our-faces/

Most of the time, Israeli policy was to treat the Palestinian Authority as a burden and Hamas as an asset. Far-right MK Bezalel Smotrich, now the finance minister in the hardline government and leader of the Religious Zionism party, said so himself in 2015. According to various reports, Netanyahu made a similar point at a Likud faction meeting in early 2018, when he was quoted as saying that those who oppose a Palestinian state should support the transfer of funds to Gaza, because maintaining the separation between the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza would prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Certainly, Israel has the right to defend itself. But I strongly disagree with Netanyahu’s talk about eradicating Gaza. That sounds too much like a final solution to the Palestinian question. But as in all wars, the innocent citizenry on both sides are the ones who suffer the most.
