He knows where everything is. It’s either on the desk or on the floor

Perhaps there’s some kind of order to each.

In their own ways, each can have or be an organized mess.

I practice stratification. If what I’m looking for hasn’t been seen since Covid, I dig down until I find masks and such…

My the top of my desk is fairly tidy. Though I could stand to clean out the desk drawers.

I once had a client that kept her office this way. But she could pull out exactly the right file when she needed it!

I’ve always imagined that she pre-inserted it into the mess just before I was ushered into the office.

A desk plaque from the 60s: “No straighten out the mess on my desk. You going jam up my system!”

Albert Einstein once asked, “if a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?"

When I run out of room on my desk, which is actually pretty well organized, I dump the excess papers on the couch beside it that I never sit on. When I can’t stand it anymore, like today, I sort out the mess, putting the important stuff in the filing cabinet and the rest in the shredding box. When that gets full I will shred. It’s not a great system, but it is a system!
