An absurd comparison; it’s amazing wingnuts think they are still scoring points with this triviality. Their speeches weren’t written down on teleprompter, but they were written down on paper. You think every speech by every great speaker in history was completely extemporaneous? Contrarily, have you never seen one of the thousands of public speeches made by President Obama without teleprompters? Seriously, you should be embarrassed by this line - unfortunately, I’m sure we’re in for another three or four days of this repetition of a pointless talking point.

I heard on NPR the marvelous story behind the Gettysburg Address. It seems that the speaker before the president was a windbag.that delivered a 13,607 word speech and lasted two hours. LIncoln’s, lasted two to three minutes. And, it was prepared in 17 days from the Whitehouse to Gettysburg and not on an envelope or on the train.

Ian, although much of what you say is true, Obama like most everybody else is far better with a prepared speech than off the cuff. Slate had an almost daily list of Bush’s unintentionally humorous remarks. They have not elected to do this with Obama for obvious reasons. But without a teleprompter Obama told us we had 57 states and the US was one the countries in the entire world with the most Muslims. We are #47.
