Those horse shoes aren’t too lucky!

Popular game over 60 years ago. Dad had a set in the 50-60’s played all the time. I still got that set.

That nickle’s not gonna be worth much by the time one of you gets 100 ringers.

It seems like that game entitled “corn hole” has taken the place of horseshoes. I’ve never played it but the name is quite off-putting. Can’t help but think of Beavis and Butthead.

What’s par on this course? How many throws to get to the pin?

At family parties, my dad and uncles always played horseshoes. It was a male outdoor game. Later, we all played Jarts – when the darts had real steel pointed ends.

Ahhhh, lawn darts. Several accidents waiting to happen…

Good idea. We still occasionally play horseshoes up at the cabin.

I thought you got a point for being closest to the post, three for a ringer, and two for a leaner. If that’s right, one of you must have at least one point!

According to the old expression, close DOES count, in horseshoes & hand grenades. But I guess they’re not even close.

Better stick to archery.

When I was a kid we played horseshoes and Jarts. Now they play cornhole and bocce. There are some Italian-Americans in my area who are very serious about bocce. They play on a proper court, perfectly level sand. If you’re not that serious, though, you can play bocce anywhere, as long as the slope isn’t so steep the ball doesn’t come to rest.
