Yes!!!! GMTA. We are taking the Cullinan out for a drive down to Victoria to meet up with one of daughters for dinner Saturday night and then to a nice little BnB for the weekend.
I have the opposite problem. When husband quit his job in his early 50s due to burn out the agreement was that I would continue as I had been doing for most of the time. At first it worked. Then gasoline prices went crazy and he pointed out that it made no sense for me to go food shopping and him to drive separately to the same shopping center to Home Depot.
Before Covid it had gotten to the point where I drove twice a month – once to my remaining business client and once to my embroidery meeting. (And I have always been – acknowledged by him – the better driver, but he suffers from motion sickness and has to drive.)
During the first 3 years of Covid I drove 3 times – 3 blocks – to or from our mechanic when it was too cold or raining to walk to or home from dropping a vehicle. I drove round trip to the next county as he is too afraid to drive our RV alone and it needed to have its generator serviced. When I got called for jury duty I was actually concerned about driving to court and he was terrified. (In the past since he stopped working if I got called same he would come along to have something to do – but it was in a different building this time and we were not sure if he would be allowed in.) He sent me out the day before driving around just to do so. Of course it snowed the night before I had to go. He came out and cleared the snow off for me. I had no trouble driving other than having to figure out how the windshield wipers worked in our car.
I am now back to monthly going to my embroidery club again at least I get to drive again and have a bit of time without him. (No, really, as I read my comics he is sitting next to me watching TV.)

Hopefully the roads are clear of ice, sleet, snow and in some cases flooding..

She said “go for a drive,” not “go somewhere,” so… they’re going from being cooped up in the house, to being crammed into a car?

This happens about every weekend at my house… in almost the exact same way.
