    I hate those kinds of remarks. I used my math skills throughout my lifetime. I really don’t like to see it belittled. We live in a knowledge based society and those skills come in handy for a good percentage of our population.

    You may never need more than arithmetic. In that case, study at least through Algebra II. You may never need more than algebra. In that case, study at least through Calculus I. The purpose of every higher branch of mathematics is to make the branch below it easy by comparison. So be sure to study at least one level higher than the one you’re actually going to need.

    I never realized how musical maths are and never realized how mathematical music was until I really got into music in middle school and watched “Donald in Mathmagicland.” Particularly the section about Pythagoras. Pyth was not just into triangles, he was into lyres and lutes
