years ago my step-father put up a birdfeeder and decided to make it squirrel proof…he was up on the ladder for a good half hour, making sure everything right…finally finishes, comes down, folds up the ladder and turns towards the garage…and the squirrel is sitting on the bag of bird food munching away watching the whole thing

I’ve found a live trap and relocation works best ( temporarily ) .

Hammy’s a red squirrel. We have Eastern Grays on our bird feeder.

I used to worry about squirrels eating the bird food, now I just figure they eat because they are hungry too.

I had a pet squirrel for 8 years and regularly feed others through the winter. Nothing wrong with squirrels, they are just living their lives.

Putting out a squirrel feeder full of peanuts (raw, unshelled) might divert them.
Here’s one design. Fill the jar with peanuts. https://feedingnature.Com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/squirrel-feeders-976×
