Unfortunately I have been on/off the dole throughout my life. If it was up to me, I wouldn’t but as soon as I left college my Dad made me “sign on” until I found a job. Not to get “free money” but because I’ll also get pension contributions from the government. My Dad is pretty smart when it comes to things like that even though I didn’t see it at the time. I’m now on a benefit where I don’t get money at all (I’m not eligible because of my savings) just NI (National Insurance) contributions alone that will go towards my pension. That makes me a feel better. Not on top of the world though. Haha.
To keep them active, I need to attend the Jobcentre every 3 months but they are not “strict” with me at all. Probably because I’m not getting money. They just let me carry on doing what I’m doing. My next appointment is 12th April. Hopefully I’ll be at my new volunteer job by then so I have something to tell them.

You’re going the wrong way. Loved that statement in Movie Planes, trains and automobiles. John Candy and Steve Martin.
