My phone stays at home, like it was a landline. I don’t need it constantly in my hand, pocket, car, when I’m shopping, etc. I’m not distracted from more important things by a ringing phone.
Oof. I hope your take on cell phones while driving has changed since whenever this ran. The dangers got so much worse with texting and video calls. And now it’s so much easier to use hands-free methods for cell phones (which at least in Mass. are legal).
Driving while talking on a cell phone is just as dangerous as driving while intoxicated.

Both Adam and Kari failed a general-purpose road safety test while talking on a cell phone and while driving drunk, with cell phones by a wider margin…
I never used email from hosting companies. I was a very early adopter of Hotmail. I did know people who had the cheapest AOL service left just to keep from losing that address. Now I think you can keep those regardless, but I’m not sure.
24 years later I’m still living every day with what a distracted driver did. If it weren’t for muscle feedback and my eyes seeing the scene, I would have no idea which direction up is in. Brain rehab helped greatly, and walking with a cane I can fake normal really well—but it all hit home again when my grandchildren were born and my kids wouldn’t let me pick them up nor change their diapers for fear I’d fall with them. I sit down, hold still, they hand me the baby, no getting up nor carrying them: that’s the rule. (As well it should be.)

The only time my email was changed was when I was hacked. Nothing is so important that you need to be on your cell phone while driving.
