Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Mr. Ed was a knock-off of Francis the Talking Mule, who, Iâm embarrassed to report, Iâm old enough to remember seeing at the movies in the late 40âs & early 50âsâŚâŚâŚ.
Teresa, my sister always wanted to watch Dark Shadows, I wanted to watch Mr. Ed, and Sea Hunt was also on, all at the same time. Our big brother would win the argument for Sea Hunt, sending sister off in a huff to her friendâs house to watch Dark Shadows. He didnât really care, and always had homework, so I got to watch Mr. Ed every day!
Steve Martin stole the whole bajo playing fake arrow through the head routine from Jerry Van DykÎľ, one of the most under rated of comics. My big sister had to watch Dark Shadows, I wanted Gigantor.
I canât believe I had to resort to creative spelling for the manâs name. Nanny donât like DykÎľs

Is Opus referring to Mr. Ed or ⌠Television in general?
We need to know what it takes to insult the intelligence of a flightless water foul so that we can plan our programming in the 21st century.
Up next Jersey Shore followed by Dancing With Twits.

I remember Mr. EdâŚâŚfor kids only. It was back when TV, and the whole world, was in black and white. If you had a 21â TV, you were top dawg!

X_Tech âŚuh, by the way a water âfoulâ is a water âfowlâ.

He came all the way out of the shower for that?

Yes, it was mindless drivel, and better than 90% of what is being broadcast on commercial TV today.

Could have been worse. Could have been âMy Mother, The Carâ.

@sandfan yes and that was a great show! Wish todayâs shows could hold a candle to some of the old stuff!

If not for My Mother, the Car, Kit from Knight Rider wouldnât have existed. Without Knight Rider, who knows what would have happened to the Hoff.

Mr. Ed had electrodes place in his harness. When he was shocked he would move his lips.
Try that today!

@crit74, considering what happened to him anyway, I shudder to imagine.

Ironically, the most asinine shows on TV are the ones with an all-human cast, like âTwo and a Half Menâ or âDesperate Housewives.â

Francis always got the best lines, with Donald OâConnor as a straight man.
