Entitlements. We paid into Social Security for 45 years. It is a TRUST. But everyone knows you can’t trust a politician. Meanwhile they get lifetime pension and health benefits for serving one term. Oh well, I will enjoy their services in Heaven. Senator, come here, I need to be wiped, then go slop the hogs.
Actually I can recall 8 years of non stop whining from the Dems when Bush was in power, and before that 8 years by the Reps over Clinton, seems that you are all bad losers.
‘Dis country is goin’ down da tubes.’ I’ve heard that one for 40+ years now. I’m sure others have heard it longer. But then again, I don’t see the U.S. lasting as long as the Roman Empire. Less than 20 years, and it’s half way though. (I know—blah blah)
Don’t think about how politicians are going about it (repaying favors from lobbyists); no, just think about the following statement and see what is wrong with it:-“Every American should receive a good education, adequate food, and quality medical care.”-Is there ANYTHING wrong with that statement?
Plus ca change, plus ca la meme chose. For those who need “the translation, The more things change the more they remain the same.” Literal would be “more the change, more the same thing”
I’m disappointed that everyone here just wants to focus on the liberal/conservative argument. It’s surprising that no one has commented on the messes that arms proliferation and the support/training of various factions got us into. It would be much more interesting, and probably a little less divisive. I quit watching TV news because they set every story up to intentionally turn into an argument (as opposed to debate). I hope that doesn’t happen here.
Really? You think having quality health care is equivalent to having the means to kill someone?-The constitution detailed certain “unalienable rights” – things that are basic to humanity. They include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. All of these imply education, health care, and adequate food to achieve.-An amendment (2nd) – or added on “right” for the sake of security – gives you the right to keep and bear arms (Note: not the right to keep and bear guns).-Can you not see the difference in an unalienable right to all humans and an amended right for a specific purpose?-So sad…
Vonne Anton You are mixing up the Declaration of Independence with the Constitution. There is no right to life, liberty or pursuit of happiness in the constitution. And the 2nd amendment was no more “added” to the constitution than the 1st amendment. The right to keep and bear arms is just as important and fundamental as the right to free speech. Try picking up a history book sometime.
To really stir it up…yes, I am stupid and ignorant. But even “gun” people will tell you a rifle is for hunting animals, and a pistol is for killing people. That’s not sick, that’s reality. We are trained that you don’t pull a gun unless you plan to fire, and you don’t fire unless you plan to kill. Reality.-The second amendment clearly explains itself: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”-The right to keep and bear arms is for a well regulated militia (National Guard or Army) made up of the people, not so you can have a personal arsenal.-Now for the coup de grace:-Other than hunting, I see no reason on earth for ANY private citizen to own a gun.-Go ahead, call me names and tell me I’m stupid again. Your guns give you the right to be abusive.
Oh, just for the record…-I was trained with a nickle-plated Colt Python .357 Magnum. Beautiful weapon, hard to clean, and I really need to invest in leather grips; those plastics ones smart when it kicks!
Apparently Sturmmi14 has lots of guns, but has not been through small arms training, as we have.-Also, he assumes I know nothing about the Constitution, nor the writings of the founding fathers. Truthfully, I majored in American History and specialized on the Federalists papers. But, assuming that someone who disagrees with you is ignorant is par for this course. Water off a duck’s rear.

What year was this printed?

The US is now Greece – the whining thieves, using the guns of government to procure their booty, now outnumber the productive.

And yet, if we would only abolish our nonmilitary bureaucracy, the economy would roar back to a level that could cover most of the theft.

@David Brown – Judging by the way Opus is drawn, I’d say somewhere around 1984.
