Where would we be without unions?

Without unions there would be no weekends. Like weekends? Thank the unions!

Hm, funny. I thought outsourcing to China was the decision of MANAGEMENT. I don’t think I’ve heard of a single union vote to do so.

why is that many people have such a negative reaction to the word union?

Where ever there is Big money, like union dues, there is someone willing to misuse it. The union bosses have been guilty of it over the ages.

Corporations move to the Third World because wages are next to nothing, they don’t have to pay benefits, or worry about environmental laws. I remember the paper companies moving from my neck of the woods to the Southern Right to Work states to avoid higher wages and clean water laws. As soon as Mexico opened up they moved there in a flash. Unions had nothing to do with this. Greed did how ever.

Unions, like all monopolies, can exist longer than a generation only through the care and feeding by government.

People who wish to join unions should be allowed to do so. Companies that choose to not deal with unions should be allowed to do so. The problems arise when governments constrict freedom.
