Reagan got the role of a lifetime when he was selected to play the role of president, and he played it for all he was worth. But I do not think that he was a great president, or even a good one. He was adequate and just merely excelled in playing the role of a president.
I’m with Cadbury, Reagan was the only competent president since Eisenhower. Leftists forget how the Tea Party turned out for the funeral of Ronaldus Magnus – surely the largest spontaneous gathering in history. I suspect that is also why the leftists are so quick to disparage Reagan – the leftists’s inherent tendency toward cultism is frustrated by such greater popularity in one who did not seek idolization.
I remember a part of a discussion of the GOP’s selections of Prez candidates last summer: One person said if Reagan was here today he would be considered a liberal. Another voice added, “And if Eisenhower were here he would be considered a Marxist.” Reagan was a democrat in his earlier days.

Ronald Reagan was the last great president this country had. Berke Breathed is the one who sucks!

Reagan was so popular that even leftists pretend they were fans of Reagan. Those of us who were alive then can spot those liars.
