My dog’s uneven breathing sounds like people talking in another room. When I wake up in the dark and hear her, I remind myself that if there were strangers in the house she’d be barking her head off.

There are just those people, and dogs, for whom any improvement is …not.

After all, Poncho is a bonehead.
