There were actual Unwrapping Parties with Mummies! Those who participated (bought their way in) would stake a claim at anything they found. Rings, bracelets, earrings, some would even take the wrapping, sarcophagus, and body!

This is a major why there is laws against “archeologist” taking anything from one nation to another. And why some places are demanding their stuff being returned.

It is an odd concept that extends the right to property to those who did not earn them. Who stole that property first and how does that first theft confer rights based on that first theft?
