So true. We once had a dog that smoked a cat out that was hiding behind a bush. And for the remainder of that dog’s life, whenever we would walk by that house, she would go investigate that same bush every time.
We had a “rabbit tree”. A sly old rabbit tricked my dog into thinking they disappeared up a tree, when in reality they bolted down a hole under a nearby tree. For months afterwards she would crane her neck in search of that trickster bunny in the tree top! :D

My dog found a hotdog by a bush on the next block once. Now he has to check the magic hotdog bush every day.

I had a beagle like that once, but it was what went under the stove. It got moved out twice a year for oven cleaning; she was right on hand.

I don’t get dogs. They seem smart enough to remember some things but cannot figure out a simple concept like a litter box.

as a house painter, I can attest to how often (or not how often) people clean behind and under the fridge…
