“Back in the day”…when I worked in a restaurant, we had a counter top slicer, to cut prime rib, onions for onion rings, etc…one of my employees wasn’t paying attention, and sliced the tip of his finger off. Ugh. He worked for us for years tho…even became our “bad example” for newbies…“Don’t do it like he did!! Pay attention when using the slicer!”
I had a friend who, in high school, worked at a fast-food place. The deep-fryer was a standalone device that sat on a counter. It got knocked off and dumped hot oil on his legs. Nasty burns, hospital, skin grafts, all that good stuff.
One morning I was opening and in my rush I bumped my head on the metal corner of the hanging silverware caddy for Expo. I worked my entire shift and when I was finished pulled out my ponytail, running my hand through my hair. Only then did I notice the bloody gash I had on the top of my head. Thankfully I do not think it was any more noticeable to the customers, than it was to me :/
