Jfri you said yesterday/today/which ever… not to underestimate the dark side. well i have a comment to make on that. ….. “Come to the dark side…. we have cookies.” lol a friend told me that.
OK,* I’ll* cook! French toast, home made cinnamon rolls, hash browns, sausage (link or patty), choice of juice & syrup, milk & pirate’s coffee. That good enough?
JFr and Tabby thanks for the breakfast /evening snack! Guess Cleo actually went to bed tonight - at least I hope he hasn’t fallen asleep at the ‘puter.
I didn’t finish all of the comments from yesterday (today my time) as I’ve been out all day.
Sleep well Tabby
I am now going to bed… i dont think my hair is going to dry…. sucks having think hair…. so good night/day all of you out there…. 4 hours of sleep here i come…. thats if im lucky… night all and morning to those who will be coming in.
Gmartin not trying to be mean or anything… but we got way past 170 one day not to long ago.
lol Akenta well i am off to work… haha babysit. have a great day all of you. peace and love. Akenta be safe and hurry home. i will miss you. 6:33 here.
Morning everyone, Dang it, I keep forgetting you guys keep serving a continental breakfast otherwise I would save my appetite but can not pass on hash browns & pirate’s coffee JFri, YUM.
Akenta, nice one! Le Tribe does have a nice ring to it.
Good Morning Le Tribe!
Last day of school here today. They all get out at noon. So much stuff to do before then. Sigh…eh, whatever, all I can do is all I can do. I’m just looking forward to a nice, quiet weekend.
Thanks for breakfast! Have a good day everyone!
JFri - Thanks for breakfast. I will have a little of everything. And no I did not fall asleep at the computer. So there… I fell asleep watching a movie.
doc my hand is doing much better. I can now take the cap off a marker without pain. We’ll see how it feels later today, as I’ve got to work on some projects I’ve been procrastinating too long.
It was raining when I got up, still is! And the first thing that popped inot my head was the Lovin Spoonfuls song Rain on the Roof and now I can’t get rid of it! JFri I HATE YOU!!! :-P
Hey, I know how to make French Toast, pancakes, eggs, and so on too. Not so good at cooking any other meals, tho… :-(
But, Tabby, I commiserate with you on the thick hair. Or family has it too–when my brother’s hair reached his shoulders, it was as wide as them too! OTOH, I don’t think I will ever get too tall for my hair, like lots of guys do. (fatuncle comes to mind for some reason, like his avatar.) Takes forever to dry, even when it’s short! Although, I can go out in winter with wet hair, and not worry. Only the outer half inch or so freezes…
I likie that. It’s sounds cool.
Akenta Have a good time.
Rmom Glad to hear the hand is doing better.
JFri Thanx for the breakfast.
HeyDocT How’s things?
Dry How’s about “I Love The Rainy Nights, I think by Eddie Rabbit. Ha! Get that one out of your head.
Cleo My wife always says a change of pace is good. Just don’t fall asleep on le toilet!
Carmy Hope your weekend is quiet.
Tabby Have fun at babysitting/work!
Marge I always miss you. Hi!
JFri: Re: your last post before I fell asleep. I NEVER underestimate the power of the Dark Side!
BBL I’m going to read what you guys said last night so I can give you tips on how to raise your stats! We can have our surprise inspector gmartin997 thinking we are slacking off here! LOL
Morning boozoothats who: Hope you enjoy the circus. Lots of fun here.
Shika - If you’re going to use French, please translate for those of us who don’t understand it. I don’t mind learning French - I just don’t know it, or anyone who speaks it fluently. I took Spanish in high school - didn’t do too well, but at least I know some basic words. But I’m really lost when it comes to French.
My sister is blonde - perhaps from some distant Scandinavian ancestor, her hair is thick and grows long easily. Unfortunately, I got some other hair genes - probably from the British Isles. Thin, fine, dry, and breaks off when it touches my shoulders. Doesn’t matter what I do - my mom & grandma had the same problem.
I keep telling my sons that they are doomed when it comes to male pattern baldness. Every male in the family tree for the last several generations on every line went bald. Just a matter of how quickly….
RRAmom: I don’t speak French fluently either, just enough to confuse people. Translated, my little foray into France said,
Good Morning Le Tribe, and Yappy Nuts (LES==plural nuts or whatever. and LE is singular nut, such as me, except i’m La nut, which is a female nut!)
The French use sinular pronouns as well as gender specific, but the gender refers to the noun, not to persons per se, to through in some Latin for Doc. T.
Clear as mud! I’ll be glad to elaborate. This is how we raise our postings by the way.
Shika - That’s where I had the most trouble in Spanish - trying to remember which inanimate objects were male and which were female. El is the male pronoun, and the male noun ends in O. La is the female pronoun, and the female noun ends in A. (If I remember correctly - please feel free to correct me!) But trying to remember if a table, chair, etc. was considered male or female always tripped me up.
And a fine good morning to Le Tribe
Just stopping in for a little more breakfast. Glad to hear you didn’t scare your wife at the computer again Cleo. Your snoring probably kept her awake during the movie.
Cusine-challenged bridge-substructure symbionts (trolls) may be irritating and irritated–but they sure don’t seem to go away quickly, despite their ire, boredom, or whatever else may be sticking in their crevices. They seem self-destined to remain forever on the periphery of the group, contributing little but criticism and bile. Sad thing is, they would probably be happier–and we too–if they would just come in or go away entirely.
@RRAmom, looking at my family might indicate I have few chances for keeping my hair: all my mom’s side, and over half my dad’s lost their hair. (In the case of mom’s brothers, uncles, nephews, etc, it was most often in their 20s!) However, Dad, one brother, and his three sons (including me) somehow kept the thick, dark brown, wavy hair. And several of my sisters/aunts/etc. have nice thick hair too, from quite dark to nearly blonde.
@doctoon and JFri, some years ago in our printshop, I made several notepads for people with narrow or one-track minds. They were about 5 inches long and 1/4 or 1/8 inch wide….
bmonk what I learned (if I remember correctly) in my son’s Genetics class was that male pattern baldness is in the X chromosome, so it comes from the mother’s side. Females don’t get it because we have two X chromosomes, and the one that doesn’t have that defect overrides it. But for the poor males with XY, they don’t have a 2nd X, so if the X they got from their mom has the defect, it is apparent on them. Same reason that almost all hemophiliacs are male. We women are just the carriers. (Sorry about that guys!)
I did okay in the graying department. I’ll turn 50 next month, and there is just a few strands of silver. (Silver sounds so much more pretty than gray!) Since my hair is brown, it is visible, but only in the last few years. At least doctor, you can cut your hair off, and be stylish. I have to perm mine to get any body.
Hello everyone!
I got out of work early today so I am going to celebrate the start of my weekend with a nap :)
Rmom, I had the same problem with Italian…
JFri, don’t even think about bringing up what I know you are thinking of saying. (If you weren’t, yet, you will be shortly, lol)
And now to nap, BBL
JFri - I learned two things this morning. A man has been seen walking naked in Ashland. He has done this several times. So, I am not the only one who likes to be naked and I shall have to look into moving to your fair state as you have no anti-nudity laws. LOL
Rmom, we actually don’t have many mosquito problems in the PNW. Maybe because it rains so much the water keeps moving? Don’t really have an answer for it but there it is.
Joy My boys didn’t have an abundance of hair at birth like some babies I’ve seen. At least they weren’t totally bald.
My mom had to use syrup to glue a bow in my sister’s hair when she was a baby. After having 3 sons, Mom was “tickled pink” to finally get a daughter. (I’m the youngest, so it wasn’t such a big deal when I came along.)
Cleo and JFri - Last time I was in the PNW I had my 2nd birthday on the trip. Needless to say, I remember nothing!
You might be right in that it rains often enough to keep the water moving. Maybe the puddles aren’t stagnant long enough for the mosquito larve to hatch.
bmonk Mom was scrapbooking before it was in style. I actually have a scrapbook somewhere around here from my childhood. I’ve tried to do my sons, but with homeschooling and construction projects, it has been hard to find the time and space to get much done. At this point, I’d be happy to get the prints from pre-digital (about 1996) in their books. Thankfully, my oldest didn’t care about having a graduation party, so I didn’t have to get his done for that. I probably won’t get the youngest’s book caught up before he graduates, either. Right now, I’m going through photo albums looking for pictures of my mom. We did a powerpoint show before & after Dad’s funeral, and so I’m trying to scan stuff for Mom’s. There are no shortages of photos to go through, but since she took most of the pictures, there aren’t as many of her. Her house burned down when she was in high school, so her childhood photos aren’t plentiful. That may have been why she was so big on taking pictures. Either that, or the artist in her.
My wife and I have put pictures in scrapbooks ever since we met. We have done a lot of traveling since we met and it’s fun to relive these trips by scanning through them from time to time. She also has scrapbooks of her kids growing up.
cleo, I am sure you & your wife enjoy looking at the scrapbooks together. My parents did a lot of traveling, and Mom always took a camera & lots of film. I’m hoping that when I’m done with homeschooling, I’ll find more time to organize my photos.
We took slides and home movies so are now putting everything on DVDs which in turn will probably be obsolete. What a pain! But all our friends are in the same boat.
We do have a few albums, though, and they are great to look through.
Dawn My hubby & his family took slides primarily, and those are a pain to scan. I think we got all the important video on VHS, my FIL put some on DVD, but we’ve got a lot more that will need to be changed over. Having been in computers since punchcards, I know what a pain it is to make sure that the data files are upgraded along with the hardware and placed on the new storage devices.
Cleo: I have lots of photos if you and your wife run out of things to do. Then you could splend your time looking at them and wondering where the heck you were!
PIRATE AND JOY: Sign me up! I’ll be there with bells on1 sorry guys, I’ll try not to make too much noise.
JFri: LOL Love the cat cartoon. and Taxi too. Haven’t watched that in years. Let’s hear it for REV. JIM! Yeah……Rev……………………….J…….I….M……………..! Hope you are at home watching those vidieos.
RRAmom: Don’t worry about those gender thingys. I only remeber a few myself. I grew up in a French town so I sort of learned some French by osmosis, but not enough to speak it fluently.
Rmom - semolina is a flour most commonly used in making pasta. It has more gluten in it then other flours. Semolina bread has a very slightly sweet taste and is somewhat winey in aroma. I have brushed the top with a cornstarch wash and baked it with a coating of sesame seeds.
Doc T: I had socks given me that say “I love Fridays” I’d give them to you, but they show a woman kicking up her heels with a martini in her hand. Honestly, I don’t know WHAT my friend was thinking when she gave them to me. Not me at all! : )
Now it is the weekend, nap is more than complete, and I probably won’t be able to sleep until very late tonight, which is going to screw up my sleeping schedule. Naps are evil I say!
Have a nice night, Doc!
Have a nice weekend, Tabby!
OK, I don’t know how long I’ll be able to see or use the comments. They haven’t been showing on my screen for two or three days. I’m not ignoring you folks…just couldn’t get in. Enjoy your evening & weekend. Hopefully, I can stop back later & still get in. ☻
JFri: While I was over at Garfields checking out the Nuclear reference, I tried to translate. Rakkov’s Hebrew in the brackets. i asked him to translate it for me. I think it may be Yiddish for little brother, but I can’t say for sure. I only know the Hebrew alphabet, and can’t read the words, but it looks like an English word written in Hebrew characters. Just for fun.
Hey Cleo lookin’ good!
Dcguys did you try going back a day then forward? It worked for me the time I didn’t have any comments. May have been fluke, though…
Shika I’m not technically allergic to seeds or nuts, it is just that those nasty little things don’t digest well. Diverticulitis is no fun. Let’s see…I’m allergic to Biaxin, wasp stings, and anything that rubs on my skin like shoes. I’m not undressed like Cleo most of the day, because I can usually wear loose fitting clothes. However, I only have footwear on when absolutely necessary, because otherwise my histamines (sp?) break out and cause painful rashes. (Technical name “dermographia”)
Hi gang: Sorry I haven’t been here today, but I either came down with a bad case of allergies or a flu bug.
I’ll put on a few comments here and ther but i might dose off as I have taken some medication.
cleo That avi is hurting my eyes. Mental pics please go away.
JFri I’ll only have little food but the heavy on the rum and cokes. Did I say heavy on the rum?
HEAVYONTHERUM
I have Jack and Coke if anyone wants. Single Barrel if it makes a difference.
Shikamoo I hoping it does funny things to my eyes so that cleo’s avitar is blurry.
johnnydoc5 Glad you volunteered to make the cake! I’ll have some.
Rmom Your typing sounds good with that hand getting better!
I feel bad that I didn’t get a chance to say good-bye to Tabby.
dcguys Hope you get your sitiation fingered out!
DocT I gotta find that windo to peep into.
Well I’ll stick around for awile, but I have to get to bed early and try to kicik this flu or allergies.
I have a Pool Tournament tomorrow all day. There is no way out as I have paid the entrance fee($150.00) Too much to throw away!
Terry Jack Daniels Single Barrel is to be sipped STRAIGHT! No ice, no mixer! It’s the ONLY way I drink it! If you want to mix with Coke use something inexpensive…no one will know the difference! (If you want it cold just put it in the freezer)
JFri I drink the same way. But my wife won’t drink it straight or sip it straight . And I do mean drink. I cannot sip something when it tastes so good and sooooo smooooooooooooooth!
Just thought I’d report that my hand is close to back to normal. Yesterday it hurt to grip the steering wheel, tonight it didn’t! Hurray! The doc I went to is our chiropractor, and he “adjusted” it. I’d never had my hand “adjusted” before, but it does seem to have helped. I’m sure all the prayers offered up on my behalf helped as well!!
Shika I don’t know why you had trouble posting earlier. One of the guys here who knows more might have some theories. I have pretty good anti-virus program, and haven’t encountered anything suspicious from this site.
Sorry to hear that Terry. hope it’s not the flu either, considering what’s going around. At least with allergies you can take something for them, but you can if you are drinking too. :(
JFri: No sense calling for Doc T or DRY- They both disappeared for the night. If you hear lots of HOOTS coming from his general direction, you’ll know why. Although he did say he was seeing his Sweetie tonight, so, don’t point that telescope in his direction! Point it in CLEO’s direction instead!
JFri and Terry, I’ll have a couple fingers of Jack too. College roomate was a “Volunteer”; worshipped Jack and Coke. But it’s too good to dilute with Coke…
Shika and Rmom, you guys! Leftys, but shake with your right hands? That’s the definition of sinister… ;-)
Well, not really. But Leftys are the only ones in their right minds…
“Just the place for a Snark!” the Bellman cried,
As he landed his crew with care;
Supporting each man on the top of the tide
By a finger entwined in his hair.
“Just the place for a Snark! I have said it twice:
That alone should encourage the crew.
Just the place for a Snark! I have said it thrice:
What i tell you three times is true.”
. . .
“Come, listen, my men, while I tell you again
The five unmistakable marks
By which you may know, wheresoever you go,
The warranted genuine Snarks.
“Let us take them in order. The first is the taste,
Which is meager and hollow, but crisp:
Like a coat that is rather too tight in the waist,
With a flavor of Will-o-the-wisp.
“Its habit of getting up late you’ll agree
That it carries too far, when I say
That it frequently breakfasts at five-o’clock tea,
And dines on the following day.
“The third is its slowness in taking a jest.
Should you happen to venture on one,
It will sigh like a thing that is deeply distressed:
And it always looks grave at a pun.
“The fourth is its fondness for bathing-machines,
Which is constantly carries about,
And believes that they add to the beauty of scenes–
A sentiment open to doubt.
“The fifth is ambition. It next will be right
To describe each particular batch:
Distinguishing those that have feathers, and bite,
And those that have whiskers, and scratch.
“For, although common Snarks do no manner of harm,
Yet, I feel it my duty to say,
Some are Boojums–” The Bellman broke off in alarm,
For the Baker had fainted away.
. . .
“You may seek it with thimbles–and seek it with care;
You may hunt it with forks and hope;
You may threaten its life with a railway-share;
You may charm it with smiles and soap– ”
(“That’s exactly the method,” the Bellman bold
In a hasty parenthesis cried,
“That’s exactly the way I have always been told
That the capture of Snarks should be tried!”)
Anyone for 200 tonight? You guys have to speed up, I can’t keep this up all night. Of course, for Cleo and JFri, it’s early yet. Where are you BMONK? I forget.
“The sun was shining on the sea
Shining with all his might:
He did his very best to make
The billows smooth and bright–
And this was very odd, because it was
The middle of the night.”
“If seven maids with seven mops
Swept for half a year,
Do you think,” The Walrus asked,
“that they could get it clear?”
“I doubt it,” the Carpenter replied,
and shed a bitter tear.
“The time has come,” the Walrus said,
“to speak of many things:
Of shoes, and ships, and sealing wax,
Of cabbages and Kings.
Of why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings.”
The moon was shining sulkily,
Because she thought the sun
Had got no business to be there
After the day was done–
‘It’s very rude of him, ” she said
“to come and spoil the fun!”
Four young Oysters hurried up,
All eager for the treat:
Their coats were brushed, their faces washed,
Their shoes were clean and neat,
And that was odd, because, you know,
They hadn’t any feet.
Four other Oysters followed them,
And yet another four;
And thick and fast they came at last,
And more, and more, and more,
All hopping through the frothy waves,
And scrambling to the shore.
Cleo, lovely photo! Thanks, I really needed a good giggle. Not feeling so great here, chemo aftershocks. Looking forward to a nice, quiet, restful weekend. I never finished reading my comics today. I’ll try to do that and BBL.
Hi Shika and bmonk! Where’s JFri?
If I am facing the lake the sun sets to my left. I am about to become scarce as I go to watch a movie. If I am at all coherent I will respond at the end. Toodle ooh my vagrant friends.
“The time has come,” the Walrus said,
To talk of many things:
Of shoes–and ships–and sealing wax–
Of cabbages—and kings–
And why the sea is boiling hot–
And whether pigs have wings.”
There once was an acrobat’s daughter.
She flew through the air in a noose.
One day in May,
her bridgework gave way,
and she flew through the air like a goose.
Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you’re at!
Up above the world you fly,
Like a teatray in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you’re at!
Hey Cleo lookin’ good!
Dcguys did you try going back a day then forward? It worked for me the time I didn’t have any comments. May have been fluke, though…
Yes, like that. I was also thinking of another Carroll poem, “Convenient and Inconvenient” this morning, but I can’t get it to post. THere must be some limit here, or something…
Jfri, do you have a little more ale left? It’s almost midnight here, and I’m turning into a pumpkin. I don’t know what the connection is, but I’ll think of something.
When I’m in a sober mood,
I worry, work & think.
When I’m in a drunken mood,
I gamble, cuss & drink.
Now when my days are over,
And my time has come to pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my a$$!
A man had had far too much to drink
Now I must go home he began to think
He tried to stand up and fell to the floor
So he decided to crawl out of the door
Then after a little fresh air he tried again
But he fell face down in the drain again
“I will never get up” to himself he said
I won’t try again I’ll crawl home instead
His wife found him on the step asleep
“I went for a drink” he said like a sheep
“And I know what made you crawl so far
Your wheelchair’s still in the public bar”
Just got in from a walk and noticed that a post I had made three hours ago finally came through. Weird.
Anyway, Johnny Walker sounds wonderful. So smooth!
Terry hope you don’t have the flu - it can be nasty.
Snow in Alberta tonight - glad I’m on the coast.
Now for my comic rounds.
Wow! I guess you can aford to lose an inch. I hope your arms dono’t reach the floor. I’m getting a very scary picture of you. LOL
Just kidding. I know someone here who flies to Houston to shop for shoes- he’s a size 15. do you have a problem with clothes or shoes? (Yuo can tell me to MYOB if you want,)
Surprisingly, I only wear a size 10 shoe (outhouses have no foundations). Shirts are a different story: 17 1/2 - 38. Not real common! Pants not too much of a problem (36” inseam). Used to be more difficult, though.
My Dad was 6’2” with a 15” collar, and I think size 12 shoe. His arms were long too, but I don’t know how long. But he only weighed 185 and his highest weight, mostly around 175lbs. Skinny some would say, although in the war he was only 125lbs, so I’d say he filled out nicely.
Hey all: I’m already dosing off and it’s only 11:30. I need to try to get better before that pool tournament. See you guys in the morning.I’m headed to zzzzzland. G’Night.
What position do you play in hockey? Warning, I know very little if anything about sports, but my nephews played. The eldest is now about 28 yrs old. He’s still a goalie. A good one too.
Wow, JFri, I am 6’4”, and thought no one was as big as me except NBA players, who are behemoths. I only weigh 186 lbs. and never could afford to play hockey.
Johnny, yeah, it’s expensive to play league hockey. Back when I lived in Nebraska I played pond hockey. That was affordable. Skates cost a lot less back then, though.
No I have one more post to contribute. I was playing video games with my younger brother, but now I am off to bed.
JFri, I only played floor hockey and we just all ran around.

Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
My sister is blonde - perhaps from some distant Scandinavian ancestor, her hair is thick and grows long easily. Unfortunately, I got some other hair genes - probably from the British Isles. Thin, fine, dry, and breaks off when it touches my shoulders. Doesn’t matter what I do - my mom & grandma had the same problem. I keep telling my sons that they are doomed when it comes to male pattern baldness. Every male in the family tree for the last several generations on every line went bald. Just a matter of how quickly….
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
RRAmom: I don’t speak French fluently either, just enough to confuse people. Translated, my little foray into France said,
Good Morning Le Tribe, and Yappy Nuts (LES==plural nuts or whatever. and LE is singular nut, such as me, except i’m La nut, which is a female nut!)
The French use sinular pronouns as well as gender specific, but the gender refers to the noun, not to persons per se, to through in some Latin for Doc. T.
Clear as mud! I’ll be glad to elaborate. This is how we raise our postings by the way.

Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
Shika - That’s where I had the most trouble in Spanish - trying to remember which inanimate objects were male and which were female. El is the male pronoun, and the male noun ends in O. La is the female pronoun, and the female noun ends in A. (If I remember correctly - please feel free to correct me!) But trying to remember if a table, chair, etc. was considered male or female always tripped me up.

Sad thing is, they would probably be happier–and we too–if they would just come in or go away entirely.
bmonk over 15 years ago
@RRAmom, looking at my family might indicate I have few chances for keeping my hair: all my mom’s side, and over half my dad’s lost their hair. (In the case of mom’s brothers, uncles, nephews, etc, it was most often in their 20s!) However, Dad, one brother, and his three sons (including me) somehow kept the thick, dark brown, wavy hair. And several of my sisters/aunts/etc. have nice thick hair too, from quite dark to nearly blonde.
bmonk over 15 years ago
@doctoon and JFri, some years ago in our printshop, I made several notepads for people with narrow or one-track minds. They were about 5 inches long and 1/4 or 1/8 inch wide….
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
bmonk what I learned (if I remember correctly) in my son’s Genetics class was that male pattern baldness is in the X chromosome, so it comes from the mother’s side.

Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
Cleo and JFri - Last time I was in the PNW I had my 2nd birthday on the trip. Needless to say, I remember nothing! You might be right in that it rains often enough to keep the water moving. Maybe the puddles aren’t stagnant long enough for the mosquito larve to hatch.
bmonk over 15 years ago
@RRAmom, one of my aunts said that her first kid got two baby books, completely filled out, with pictures, at age 18.
The second kid got one book, half completed.
The third kid got his book, still in its cellophane, with a stack of photos, and was told, “Here, you do it!”
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
bmonk Mom was scrapbooking before it was in style. Either that, or the artist in her.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
My wife and I have put pictures in scrapbooks ever since we met. We have done a lot of traveling since we met and it’s fun to relive these trips by scanning through them from time to time. She also has scrapbooks of her kids growing up.
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
cleo, I am sure you & your wife enjoy looking at the scrapbooks together. My parents did a lot of traveling, and Mom always took a camera & lots of film. I’m hoping that when I’m done with homeschooling, I’ll find more time to organize my photos.

Line up for homemade Italian semolina bread.
DawnAvril over 15 years ago
We took slides and home movies so are now putting everything on DVDs which in turn will probably be obsolete. What a pain! But all our friends are in the same boat. We do have a few albums, though, and they are great to look through.
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
Cleo What is semolina bread like?
Dawn My hubby & his family took slides primarily, and those are a pain to scan. I think we got all the important video on VHS, my FIL put some on DVD, but we’ve got a lot more that will need to be changed over. Having been in computers since punchcards, I know what a pain it is to make sure that the data files are upgraded along with the hardware and placed on the new storage devices.

Rmom - semolina is a flour most commonly used in making pasta. It has more gluten in it then other flours. Semolina bread has a very slightly sweet taste and is somewhat winey in aroma. I have brushed the top with a cornstarch wash and baked it with a coating of sesame seeds.

“Come, listen, my men, while I tell you again The five unmistakable marks By which you may know, wheresoever you go, The warranted genuine Snarks.
“Let us take them in order. The first is the taste, Which is meager and hollow, but crisp: Like a coat that is rather too tight in the waist, With a flavor of Will-o-the-wisp.
“Its habit of getting up late you’ll agree That it carries too far, when I say That it frequently breakfasts at five-o’clock tea, And dines on the following day.
“The third is its slowness in taking a jest. Should you happen to venture on one, It will sigh like a thing that is deeply distressed: And it always looks grave at a pun.
“The fourth is its fondness for bathing-machines, Which is constantly carries about, And believes that they add to the beauty of scenes– A sentiment open to doubt.
“The fifth is ambition. It next will be right To describe each particular batch: Distinguishing those that have feathers, and bite, And those that have whiskers, and scratch.
“For, although common Snarks do no manner of harm, Yet, I feel it my duty to say, Some are Boojums–” The Bellman broke off in alarm, For the Baker had fainted away.
. . .
“You may seek it with thimbles–and seek it with care; You may hunt it with forks and hope; You may threaten its life with a railway-share; You may charm it with smiles and soap– ”
(“That’s exactly the method,” the Bellman bold In a hasty parenthesis cried, “That’s exactly the way I have always been told That the capture of Snarks should be tried!”)

Gee, I tried to post the full Jabberwolky, and it wouldn’t post. So I switched, and got leventy-three posts!

*bmonk Did you go get your book to do that? I love Lewis Carroll.
Snark!
COWBOY7 over 15 years ago
Shik I told you I wasn’t feeling real well. Sorry about the mix up.
bmonk over 15 years ago
No, I searched the net. But the first stanza of Jabberwolky was from memory; I see a few minor errors…
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Shika - I don’t mix drinks either. Just a few hard pulls on a bourbon bottle will do it just fine for me.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
I know *Terry . That’s just my sense of humour coming out. Don’t be sorry. I knew what you meant!

Okay CLEO. Pass the bottle!
Did you see what I wrote about my cat? He’s still recovering.

Anyone for 200 tonight? You guys have to speed up, I can’t keep this up all night. Of course, for Cleo and JFri, it’s early yet. Where are you BMONK? I forget.

It’s not sunny here anymore: It’s Mountain Daylight time, so it just got dark. ;-)

“The sun was shining on the sea Shining with all his might: He did his very best to make The billows smooth and bright– And this was very odd, because it was The middle of the night.”

Shika - yes, it is still clear and sunny.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
Bmonk: Is Mountain Daylight Time the same as Daylight Saving Time? That’s what we are on now. It’s 11:15p.m.

“If seven maids with seven mops Swept for half a year, Do you think,” The Walrus asked, “that they could get it clear?” “I doubt it,” the Carpenter replied, and shed a bitter tear.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
That’s great Cleo. I’d love to see the lake. Do you face East, West, North or south?
BMONK: Did you recognise the poem? The Walrus?
bmonk over 15 years ago
“The time has come,” the Walrus said, “to speak of many things: Of shoes, and ships, and sealing wax, Of cabbages and Kings. Of why the sea is boiling hot, And whether pigs have wings.”
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
Guess that answers my question.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
We face north.

It’s daylight savings time, but it’s only 9:15 here: Mountain time zone…

The moon was shining sulkily, Because she thought the sun Had got no business to be there After the day was done– ‘It’s very rude of him, ” she said “to come and spoil the fun!”

@Cleo, you may face north, but your south faces us!

Four young Oysters hurried up, All eager for the treat: Their coats were brushed, their faces washed, Their shoes were clean and neat, And that was odd, because, you know, They hadn’t any feet.
Four other Oysters followed them, And yet another four; And thick and fast they came at last, And more, and more, and more, All hopping through the frothy waves, And scrambling to the shore.

HI Dawn!
Here’s my input poem.
Falling Down Drunk
A man had had far too much to drink Now I must go home he began to think He tried to stand up and fell to the floor So he decided to crawl out of the door Then after a little fresh air he tried again But he fell face down in the drain again “I will never get up” to himself he said I won’t try again I’ll crawl home instead His wife found him on the step asleep “I went for a drink” he said like a sheep “And I know what made you crawl so far Your wheelchair’s still in the public bar”

The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
Surprisingly, I only wear a size 10 shoe (outhouses have no foundations). Shirts are a different story: 17 1/2 - 38. Not real common! Pants not too much of a problem (36” inseam). Used to be more difficult, though.

My Dad was 6’2” with a 15” collar, and I think size 12 shoe. His arms were long too, but I don’t know how long. But he only weighed 185 and his highest weight, mostly around 175lbs. Skinny some would say, although in the war he was only 125lbs, so I’d say he filled out nicely.
