Great breakfast Cleo Naked Corpsakaya!

good morning all. well i have to get dressed and out the door i just wanted to make my moring better by saying hi and getting a quick laugh. love to the tribe
We are supposed to get snow in the mountains in the next few days. That’s fine, it will make all the snowboarders and skiers happy. Just as long as it stays up there and gives me bare snow free ground down here.
I have to remind myself sometimes that BT is reruns and I SO remember the Atkins frenzie a few years ago. Then the South Beach Diet was the craze. I’m with Dusty on this one. Where’s my loaf of bread?
Just a quick pass through to say hi. I have to work tonight so I want to catch a nap soon. Who wrote the rule that said days off have to go by in a flash while work days can drag? I’m on for a nine day stretch so I may not be able to chat for awhile. I’m not looking forward to that but then I’m off for five days. I think I can live with that.
No s^^w here yet but it is chilly and windy. What we got a week ago is gone now and it can stay away. I want to join with those who want summer to come back NOW [but without all the bugs].
Hey Doctor STRANGE Toon and Dr. Jekyll.
Dr. Jekyll, you’re stiff and sore from basketball?, Good heavens, man, you just turned 21! You’re turning into one of us old farts pretty quickly!
Good Morning Monster Mitch (glad to hear your wife is doing better, I’ll be praying for that job interview), serena, Doctor StrangeToon and Dr. Jekyll!
Good morning all. We rarely have the “four letter S word” here, but that means the lawnmower can keep working most of the year. I’ve had to get out there on Christmas Eve and mow.
a quick “howdy” for my friends here at the Tribe and a deposit into the karma bank as well. (GOOD LUCK to Mrs. Mitch with the interview.) can’t stay, have to go to the other 4 letter word (starts with “w” and rhymes with snerk), but i had to add my two cents to the pile. (and i like hockey comics - especially Don Cherry’s Coach’s Corner on HNIC).
Although, I do love a good blizzard if I don’t have to shovel it. I even go out walking in them. You meet all kinds of crazy, I mean interesting people that way.
Hi ygor! I almost missed you! How’s my fellow Canadian? I think that I saw undead frog on page one too. He mentioned that s-word. Luckily, we don’t have any flaky stuff going on here.
@FrankenFri, six uses of the word “snow”. Dry seems to be alergic to snow, or at least to the idea of snow, or maybe the sound of “s-n-o-w.” Can’t figure it out myself. I mean, snow is a perfectly good word.
Reminds me, a couple of weeks ago we remembered the Martyrs of North America, and one claim to fame for them is that Jean de Brebuf wrote a nice Christmas Carol, ” ‘Twas the moon of wintertime,” which doesn’t actually use the word “snow”, but it might as well.
‘Twas in the moon of wintertime when all the birds had fled
That mighty Gitchi Manitou sent angel choirs instead;
Before their light the stars grew dim and wondering hunters heard the hymn,
………………………… in excelsis gloria.
Within a lodge of broken bark the tender babe was found;
A ragged robe of rabbit skin enwrapped his beauty round
But as the hunter braves drew nigh the angel song rang loud and high
………………….. in excelsis gloria.
The earliest moon of wintertime is not so round and fair
As was the ring of glory on the helpless infant there.
The chiefs from far before him knelt with gifts of fox and beaver pelt.
…………………. in excelsis gloria.
O children of the forest free, O seed of Manitou
The holy Child of earth and heaven is born today for you.
Come kneel before the radiant boy who brings you beauty peace and joy.
………………… in excelsis gloria.
Words: Jean de Brebeuf, ca. 1643; trans by Jesse Edgar Middleton, 1926
Music: French Canadian melody (tune name: Jesous Ahatonhia)
@Dry, the nannybot here may not catch all profanities, but they also have human moderators; if a post is flagged, the moderator can eyeball it and remove it if it seems warranted.
In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.
[Thanks to www.oldielyrics.com for these lyrics]
However, this one has lots of SNOW, just for you, Doc!
Gee, Drycula I wonder if the nannybots would allow bleeep, since they allow bastard? Referring to a female dog, of course, and an illegitimate child, which should never, ever be called that word anyways.
It’s quiet out there. Yep, too quiet. Must be a million rocks out there. Bet there’s an Indian behind every one of them. (ffffssssssssstttttttt, AIIIIEEEE!!). Yep, there was one behind THAT rock! I’ll miss ya, Sarge!
i used to have a drinking problem. All day long I would drink. Quart after quart, day after day. Then one day I had a stunning revelation! Switch from water to rum! Now I have NO problem drinking, quart after quart, day after day.
**It has been said there is an element of danger when leaving one’s mind idle, void of human interaction. I cannot agree with that statement. I have seen no evidence that this could possibly be true. Oh, look! It’s my antique goalie mask and my old chain saw! (Bdddddaaap, bdddddaaaaap, bddddaaaaaap BRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM). Anyone seen any pretty girls walking in the woods alone at night????? Buwahahhahahahahahh
SNOW you don’t, cleo naked corpsakaya!! I will NOT let you bring up the word SNOW at the drop of a hat! Don’t you SNOW that isn’t nice? If I didn’t SNOW any better, I would think you were trying to get Drycula’s goat!!
SNOW kidding, bmonk Rasputin! A full grown pig is a fine meal, however. Just what the Doctor Strange Toon ordered for cold SNOWy weather, you SNOW what I mean??
Once upon a time there was a SNOWphobiac who absolutely HATED SNOW. But, she thought to herself, this is the era of global warming. I will NEVER have to deal with SNOW again. Unfortunately, it was just a hoax and it SNOWED record amounts starting early and continued on and on and on. One day she snapped and hit a big green monster over the head and took his antique goalie’s mask and chainsaw. Last time anyone heard from her she was on a rampage, hunting down those who teased her about SNOW and any climatololgists that got in her way! THE END (for many, many people, I might add!)
Dry - I like Dr. Jekyll’s suggestion of Thanksgiving for the next costume party. We could have Pilgrim or Indian names, names to do with what we eat or watch on Thanksgiving Day, etc. Lots of possibilities! I guess I’ll need to go review history and see what name will work for me. Ichabod or Ebenezer would be great for a male, but I’m sure there are some other interesting names. Of course, you may want Favre.
Just to let the tribe know…
I spent last night with Mom. The hospice nurse was surprised Mom didn’t die last night. She’s breathing with only part of her right lung, and evidently the left side quit working. Oxygen is down, fever is up. I’m home for now, as I need to get some rest.
Shika, when I was a kid, as is true with all kids, my bones were softer, better suited for the growing, but also act as dandy shock absorbers. I have grown up like a weed, particularly when I was 18-19, (that was rough) then the bones stopped growing, and hardened up. Now, they don’t absorb the shock that comes with playing basketball well, but I am still young, and my skeleton is tough (though not as tough as my stomach). So minus some bruises and creaky joints most of my being sore can safely be attributed to my skeletal muscles. That would probably be due to gross inactivity the past couple of months because the college life is largely sedentary.
I think I’ll use Mercy Warren as my Thanksgiving name. Her grandfather, Richard Warren, was on the Mayflower, she was born in Plymouth in 1657. I’m her 7th great granddaughter. Most of the other female names in my genealogy from that time frame are still common to this day. Elizabeth, Sarah, Rebecca, Anne…(you get the idea.) This is through my Mom’s lineage, so thought it appropriate for that reason as well.
Of course, you may suggest an alternative, or adaptation.
random kids pop in my house dressed in high school graduation gowns and talk loud and intrupt hw then they leave as loud as they came in. they so need to get a life and leave me alone.
Doctor STRANGE toon, you must get different snow than PA because when it snows here, it is so quiet, so quiet, that you can hear the slightest sound. As much as I hate it is pretty cool!
*Doc you need some kind of white noise to block out the sound! So you can use your bed for sleeping in, besides the other uses you find for it! SNERK! Snicker! Sleeping on the sofa is not a good nights sleep! Or days sleep in yur case!
:-D*
(((((((((((((RRAMom))))))))))))))))) Sorry to hear about your mom. Something like that can be rough. I’m making a huge deposit in the bank for you and anyone else going through a bad time.
Back from practice. It was a beautiful day here today. As soo as we left for practice, it started to rain and hasn’t quit yet. James has practiced in the rain for 2 weeks now. Un real!
Thanks for all the hugs and well-wishes for Mrs Monster. She is doing well and had a job interview today. Now we wait and see. It went well but ended with the classic line, “we have more people to interview so we will call you in 2 weeks”. That was the line my wife used when she didn’t want to hire someone so now she is bummed out, but I remain optimistic. The company had over 250 applicants for the one position. Sign of the times.
It has rained here all day also. We continue to get heavy rains while so many people are still trying to cope with the aftermath of the flooding last month.
Woah!! I just checked the weather forecast and great weather is returning to the ATL. Highs around 75 and friday night low only down to 64, but still a good chance of rain. You guys should come see us down south.
LoneWerewolf, I’m playing your son’s team this weekend. Tell him to take it easy, I’m an old lady compared to him.
MonsterMitch, is rain still in the forecast for you?
DocStrange - You don’t have to tell me what’s up with you and your lovely lady. You and I have a very similar mindset. I know for example that you sit snuggled on the couch and eat cookies out of the bag together. What could be more exciting? Well…you of course already know.
I don’t believe I have tried goose or duck. I do like goat (cabrito), yum, so tender. We used to get that in Mexico. My mom would inspect the goat to make sure it wasn’t actually a dog. Thanks Mom!
I love Cabrito. When we spent our winters in Texas we would go down to Progresso and go to this place that had goat on spits rotating over fire right in front of their window.
Dr. Jekyll - I like dark meat better than white. The goose is like a duck in that all the meat is dark. So, it depends on your preferences for the type of meat that you prefer.
cleo corpsakaya, you reminded me that I want to make some pan de polvo cookies! Their like Mexican wedding cookies. The recipe I have yields a lot of cookies so I may have to get some tins and pass them out to the neighbors.
They are really good, like melt in the mouth good!
Before I say good night Gracie, even though my Thanksgiving is past and I haven’t the foggiest how our Thanksgiving started, in keeping with the Tribal spirit, I will be POCHA HONTA ROO, or Pocha-Roo for short, not that I’m saying I’m short, nor am I saying anything of interest here; I’m just saying….
cleo naked corpsakaya, I haven’t used anise. Pecans would be tasty in those cookies I mentioned. I don’t have the recipe handy, but I think the ingredients are flour, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. It’s a very simple recipe.
Hello hymenoxis! How are you doing? Lots of rain in Texas?
I paid a hefty licensing fee to have Vaughn Bode’ coasters silkscreened, and no one’s using them. I mean….look at these water stains. I work, and I work, and what do I get?
Shika here! Make that Pochahontas-roo, Pocha-roo for short, and reference to Polka-Roo, possibly a Canadian only show if you have never heard of it. (The Polka Dot Door is the name of the show. Polka-Roo was a Polka-dot kangaroo….. oh, never mind!)
I had a well preserved desk that belonged to Marshall Badoglio, a nice cherry folding camp desk, and left it in a MSN.com chat room for just a few hours. The thing was trashed when I came back. Cigarette burns, water rings, a broken leg, and a used condom in one of the drawers. I still get moist when I think of it…I’m sorry if I’m transferring.
okay all its almost 11 here and i am dead tired. its gonna be a long day tomorrow and suppsoed to be foggie so i need to get a head start to get there on time so i must say good night peace and love all peace and lvoe
I think I’ve become more of a lurker these days. I wish I had some more time to chat with everyone, but school’s in the back stretch now, and I can’t lose focus.
I also need more sleep, so I will say good night all, and Peace and love.
Movie break. Hymenoxis, the same thing happens to me as well and I hate it. People say I am anal. I say that I want my things to look nice. If i can keep my things nice, so should other people.
LoneWerewolf, if I can stay up for the turnover, I would be glad to help. Just in case, I still have some Pumpkin Spiced Krispy Kreme doughnuts to share.

In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan, Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone; Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow, In the bleak midwinter, long ago.
[Thanks to www.oldielyrics.com for these lyrics]
However, this one has lots of SNOW, just for you, Doc!

Hey bmonk Rasputin I can’t help it if I like to sing. Besides, the carols fit in with the topics, don’t they?
bmonk about 15 years ago
Good Morning, serena, and even Dry!

Drycula I guess it is, but I was just referencing the references to SNOW. I can modify them a little.
bmonk about 15 years ago
@Shrieka, we can always sing,”Let it Snow, let it Snow, let it Snow!” and “Frosty the Snowman”!

Gee, Drycula I wonder if the nannybots would allow bleeep, since they allow bastard? Referring to a female dog, of course, and an illegitimate child, which should never, ever be called that word anyways.

Nope. I guess you can’t say bleeep here either. Darn!

The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Once upon a time there was a SNOWphobiac who absolutely HATED SNOW. But, she thought to herself, this is the era of global warming. I will NEVER have to deal with SNOW again. Unfortunately, it was just a hoax and it SNOWED record amounts starting early and continued on and on and on. One day she snapped and hit a big green monster over the head and took his antique goalie’s mask and chainsaw. Last time anyone heard from her she was on a rampage, hunting down those who teased her about SNOW and any climatololgists that got in her way! THE END (for many, many people, I might add!)

Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Dry - I like Dr. Jekyll’s suggestion of Thanksgiving for the next costume party. We could have Pilgrim or Indian names, names to do with what we eat or watch on Thanksgiving Day, etc. Lots of possibilities! I guess I’ll need to go review history and see what name will work for me. Ichabod or Ebenezer would be great for a male, but I’m sure there are some other interesting names. Of course, you may want Favre.

Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
I think I’ll use Mercy Warren as my Thanksgiving name. Her grandfather, Richard Warren, was on the Mayflower, she was born in Plymouth in 1657. I’m her 7th great granddaughter. Most of the other female names in my genealogy from that time frame are still common to this day. Elizabeth, Sarah, Rebecca, Anne…(you get the idea.) This is through my Mom’s lineage, so thought it appropriate for that reason as well.
Of course, you may suggest an alternative, or adaptation.

Lots of rain in Texas?
tabbylynn about 15 years ago

Goodnight Shrieka-BOO!
hymenoxis about 15 years ago
I paid a hefty licensing fee to have Vaughn Bode’ coasters silkscreened, and no one’s using them. I mean….look at these water stains. I work, and I work, and what do I get?

I guess I just can’t have nice things.

Good Night Gracie, again!
tabbylynn about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hymenoxis–We do owe you an apology!

Thanks, Lone. I tend to get emotional about water stains on my good wood furniture.
carmy about 15 years ago
Shrieka, how about Priscilla-Boo?
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
We’ll try to be more considerate, sir.
hymenoxis about 15 years ago
I had a well preserved desk that belonged to Marshall Badoglio, a nice cherry folding camp desk, and left it in a MSN.com chat room for just a few hours. The thing was trashed when I came back. Cigarette burns, water rings, a broken leg, and a used condom in one of the drawers. I still get moist when I think of it…I’m sorry if I’m transferring.
hymenoxis about 15 years ago

Poor hymenoxis! I’m so sorry about your lovely desk. The nerve of those MSN chat room people! What animals!!
johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago
I think I’ve become more of a lurker these days. I wish I had some more time to chat with everyone, but school’s in the back stretch now, and I can’t lose focus. I also need more sleep, so I will say good night all, and Peace and love.

Movie break. Hymenoxis, the same thing happens to me as well and I hate it. People say I am anal. I say that I want my things to look nice. If i can keep my things nice, so should other people.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
I guess I’m going for the turnover and cooking breakfast. Any volunteers to help me?
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
CarMummy, this is the way it used to be!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
LoneWerewolf- If I can help you I will. My wife keeps finding things to do that takes her away from our movie. And…it is as annoying as hell.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
I know what you mean, Cleo
carmy about 15 years ago
The Little General strikes again, poor cleo corpsakaya! I’m the same way about keeping my things nice, I never thought of that being anal. Just wise!
carmy about 15 years ago
LoneWerewolf, if I can stay up for the turnover, I would be glad to help. Just in case, I still have some Pumpkin Spiced Krispy Kreme doughnuts to share.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Thank you CarMummy. I’m tired but I want to contribute too!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
LoneWerewolf - I think that I am here for you buddy. My wife just went to bed.
