johnny yes it is a beautiful day, so was yesterday. And I’m off today, so I’m not stuck behind a desk on such a goregous day! And we turn the clocks ahead this weekend. Oh winter is just about over! YIPPEE!
You’re probably right, but at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Even with all our big snows, most of this winter has been pretty mild, except for the one really cold week.
I’ll enjoy it whilst I can too. And now I am off, for what should prove to be the busiest Thursday of the semester. That doesn’t mean much, but I’ll be gone until later in the afternoon.
Late morning all I don’t get on this strip too much. Sunny here saw someone starting mowing already. It’s cool today.
Hows this for lunch although lite. Sandwich, soup, cookies, fruit. (cookies could be light type). There should be coffee or tea since here legislature is thinking about more taxes on soda. So coffee or tea should be better. All has to make room for dinner later today. Then I’ve got to get ready for my pt job. Right now recovering from sinus problem finished meds.
Gotta go eat then change and go. Great day all :)
It makes me nervous to know that anyone can find a photo of me on line if they try hard enough. I have deleted all I can, but only as a cautionary thing. I think I got them all now.
I have always been leery of the accessibility of info on line, since it is an invasion of privacy. Of course, a public website is another matter. I never would have thought to look there. Thanks for being so generous.
Dry I am happy that your crocuses are up. Yellow is pretty too. I saw my first two robins yesterday. One was facing the sun and singing his heart out. His belly was flaming red in the sunlight- just gorgeous.
No, beards are not required for monks–in fact, not so long ago (as monastic traditions go, ie, about 40-50 years) beards were pretty much forbidden.
The Orthodox monks might be required to have beards, and I seem to recall that bi-ritual priests–those with permission to celebrate liturgy in the Latin Rite and also an Eastern Rite (and likely all priests of certain rites)–have to wear beards.
@cleo and Shika, thanks. Of course, cleo, we do have to wear a bit more clothes than you–but don’t ask what a monk (or nun, for that matter) wears under the habit unless you are prepared to find out…

Dry I missed the Woodstock reference too. I didn’t go but I did go to a rock festival in Mission, BC called the Strawberry Mt. Music Festival. I had a great time. I got to see the Small Faces with Rod Stewart on vocals and Ron Wood playing guitar. I saw Quicksilver Messenger Service, Albert Collins, Country Joe and The Fish and many others over 3 days. I was on my way to Altamont and had something happen that kept me from attending and I am glad that I missed it.
Today was a GLORIOUS day! Forecast for Friday, chance of percipitation 100%, Saturday, 100%, Sunday 90%. Flood watch in effect for the weekend! Well, it will stay warm at least, and rain on the roof is EXCELLENT sleeping weather at bedtime! And I do like the rain! And, rain is clear and not white! :-D

Actually, I have to head to work for a couple of hours, be back later.
Oh, give me a home where the toonaholics roam
And the comic nuts and the yappy nuts play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day.
Back momentarily while I await my wife and her essential phone calls.
Tabby your bed is always forgiving until it becomes old, then forgiveness begins to dissolve and you cast aside the old and embrace the new. We did, a year ago and bliss is the result.
Tabby, B.B. King is probably the most famous living blues musician. He actually came to a party at my house in Vancouver, BC in the late 60s. He plays a guitar that he has named Lucille. The town of Clarksdale, Mississippi is the home to the delta blues. The delta blues museum is there. Son House, John Lee Hooker, Sam Cooke and a non stop group of talented musicians are from there. Highway 61 crossroads are just outside the city limits. Bob Dylan name one of his best albums after this crossroads. The blues varies, depending on where you are from. Chicago, has it’s own style, New Orleans has another. Jazz and blues intertwine themselves together in the south.
Mississippi John Hurt, Little Walter, Brownie Magee & Sonny Terry, Lead Belly, Etta Baker, Big Joe Williams, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Otis Rush, Buddy Guy Bo Diddly, Albert Collins, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown and Earl Hooker are some fine examples of blues musicians. Blues varies depending on what part of the country it emerges from. Chicago, Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana all have different types of blues music.
cleo, looks like you knows the blues. My collection is not strong on the blues or jazz, but I’ve got some King and some Cooke some Sachmo and a fair bit Clapton,
Good evening, tribe!
Whew! I just got caught up on reading the BT comments. After the storm last night, our internet has been very intermittent, basically worthless, in other words. My hubby suggested I reboot the antenna, and thankfully, that took care of the problem.
I haven’t time to read the comments on any of the other strips, so let me know if there’s something I really ought to read.
Time to head to bed for the night!
Oh, BTW, bunnyface - very nice picture! (I’m 50, so I’m pretty close in age, too.)
Tabby Poo-poo to you too! I wouldn’t want to be that teacher when you are mad at him.
bmonk I never knew that beards where once verboden for monks. I like you brown robe. I’d love to not have to think what to where. Maybe I should become a nun. What colour nun should I be?
Yes Tabby anything you want to know about jazz and blues, Cleo* is DA’ MAN! Great sounds from both genres, and all those artists as well, but Cleo can give you the real skinny on it! I just enjoy the listening!
Dry, it was very busy, but it was nice going back to a former home that I really enjoyed living in in the time I was there. If given the chance, I’d move back in a heart beat.
LuvH8, I couldn’t drop a line without everyone else seeing it. My PC was connected to a projector both days.
Grog you still could of (Blows Raspberry), I am sure the other people wouldn’t have minded. (Hee~hee~hee)
I am sorry your head is bothering you. Hot bath with ice bag on head, beer in hand. You’ll be fine.
Stil downloading. Nice song though, I used to watch that show but don’t remember much of it.
LuvH8, neither my boss nor the room full of Japanese contractors in the conference room would have understood or tolerated it. I’ll being going back again in the first week of May.
However, I went for a couple beers in the local bar last night and ended up talking to an IBMer from Colorado. We ended up talking about toons toward the end of the night. I may have turned him on to Dog Eat Doug.
LuvH8, I didn’t realize the song would take so long for you to download, otherwise I would have just copied in the lyrics.
I forgot to check yesterday’s toon, but I saw Loneowolf’s comment this morning. I finally understand what he was referring to. Maybe Lonwolf feels the same way I do about Italian. If I’m going to get heartburn, I’d rather do it eating Cajun.
I may stay up a little past the mid-night hour. After all, the week-end is nearly upon us.
Nah, it’s cool I liked hearing the song! It’s been a long time. I just used another window. I have .5 speed dial up. It’s kind of annoying at times, but I don’t get nearly as much pop ups.
Dry, I was referring to Italian food. Given a choice, my first will be Cajun, then a very generalized Asian. I also like Greek, some German and my roots bring me back to Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. So get ready for some Irish Lamb Stew, Corned Beef and Cabbage AND Irish Coffee. Yes there’ll be beer, too.
Grog food! That says enough! The only food I won’t eat or try, involves tree nuts! Deathly allergic, as is, I believe, Goodquestion. Many people think I am allergic to almonds and peanuts but I’m not, because almonds are part of the peach family and peanuts are actually a legume, so I can eat both of those.
If you’re speaking of the heat in cajun food, you should have some of my family’s Italian dishes! Talk of heat!! Grew up as a kid eating hot peppers in many types and forms. Guess that’s why I still can eat that hot stuff!
Dry, it may have sounded like I had something against Italians, but growing up and living in Montreal, I had many Italian friends, and among others, Irish, Scottish and and English descendant friends.
I think the thing about Italian cooking in Montreal, is that it was too bland for my liking, while the masses raved about our Italian restaraunts there.

My collection is not strong on the blues or jazz, but I’ve got some King and some Cooke some Sachmo and a fair bit Clapton,
cleokaya over 14 years ago
New blues musicians are often white including Kenny Wayne Shephard and Johnny Lang.
Jimi Hendrix got his start as a blues guitarist.

Even Led Zeppelin’s first album was heavily blues-influenced.

Dry, it was very busy, but it was nice going back to a former home that I really enjoyed living in in the time I was there. If given the chance, I’d move back in a heart beat.
LuvH8, I couldn’t drop a line without everyone else seeing it. My PC was connected to a projector both days.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Dry, even my boss would move back, which I was really surprised to hear, but Houston’s appeal has worn itself out on me.

Hi Johnnydoc5! Long time not typing your name.
Grog you still could of (Blows Raspberry), I am sure the other people wouldn’t have minded. (Hee~hee~hee) I am sorry your head is bothering you. Hot bath with ice bag on head, beer in hand. You’ll be fine. Stil downloading. Nice song though, I used to watch that show but don’t remember much of it.

However, I went for a couple beers in the local bar last night and ended up talking to an IBMer from Colorado. We ended up talking about toons toward the end of the night. I may have turned him on to Dog Eat Doug.

I tried to be funny yesterday, but Lonewolf didn’t think it was funny for you to be eaten by a dinasaur (T-rex?).

grog im falling asleep doing this. UGH!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago

GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
LuvH8, my experience with these Japanese contractors I’ve been working with is that they have NO sense of humor.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Grog what’s that about Italians?

Dry wake me up somehow!!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
I can wake you up the Doc way if you want! Pick, tuba, bells, horn, ice water, you name it!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Dry, I was referring to Italian food. Given a choice, my first will be Cajun, then a very generalized Asian. I also like Greek, some German and my roots bring me back to Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. So get ready for some Irish Lamb Stew, Corned Beef and Cabbage AND Irish Coffee. Yes there’ll be beer, too.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Oooh! They sound scary Grog.
I need to leave for a while. See you all later.
Lonewolf - Hope you enjoyed pool.
Johnnydoc5 - sleep well.

Hello Yappers! Welcome Back, Grog!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Dry, it may have sounded like I had something against Italians, but growing up and living in Montreal, I had many Italian friends, and among others, Irish, Scottish and and English descendant friends.
I think the thing about Italian cooking in Montreal, is that it was too bland for my liking, while the masses raved about our Italian restaraunts there.
